Away from the hustle and bustle of shopping malls and outlet stores, the historic Village of Blissfield offers a small-town, friendly atmosphere to begin celebrating the holiday season.
Friday, November 11
The Santa Claus Parade marks the beginning of the weekend in traditional Blissfield style. Santa and Mrs. Claus will make an early appearance for the Community Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony where Miss River Raisin Festival will lead the crowd in Christmas carols. Following the tree lighting, everyone is invited to the Historic Depot for free hot cocoa and cookies. After enjoying the goodiesat the Historic Depot, we invite you to make plans to attend the Family Movie Night at the Blissfield United Methodist Church.
Saturday, November 12
Not only will the shops and stores be open all day with extended hours, there is also a Yuletide Craft Show at Blissfield Elementary School and Shopportunity taking place at St. Peters Light of Christ Church. Additionally, Victorian Garden will be hosting a "meet and greet" with Toledo Museum of Art glassblower, John Piechocki.
We also invite you to visit and share your Christmas wishes with Santa and Mrs. Claus at the Historic Depot. You can get a free picture taken with St. Nick. After that, we encourage you to check out some of Santa’s reindeer friends outside the Depot.
Once you’ve talked with Santa and his reindeer friends at the Depot, we encourage you to visit the Blissfield Model Railroad Club which features the best model train display in all of southeast Michigan. The BMRC boasts over 1,500 feet of mainline track on two levels! Guests this weekend will be also have the opportunity to take train rides on the Adrian-Blissfield Railroad.
Make time to place a bid at a wreath auction being held at Curves or maybe relax with a chair massage at Bailey’s Family Chiropractic.
And to end your day, take a ride along the horse drawn carriage that will be located in Historic Downtown Blissfield.
Sunday, November 13
Sunday provides another opportunity to discover unique finds in the gift and antique stores of Blissfield. A second “meet and greet” will occur at Victorian Garden as they host glassblower, Jim Yarrito, from the Toledo Museum of ArtTake a walk down to Cakes n' Shakes toshare milk and cookies with Santa and stop by Royal Expressions for a floral design ideas for the Holiday Season.
The Blissfield Model Railroad Club continues to present their model train display. The reindeer have left, but the “Alpacas Of Crosstrails" will be at the Historic Depot. Horse drawn carriage rides continue to provide a tour of the Historic Village of Blissfield.
And to end the day, we will be having our Gift Basket Drawing at 5 p.m. To enter the Gift Basket Drawing, you must spend $5 at a business in downtown Blissfield. That $5 will entitle you to a entry ticket for the drawing which you can drop off at the Blissfield DDA/Main Street Program's Welcome Tent located at the Downtown Mini-park.
