The Blissfield DDA/Main Street organization was founded on June 23, 2010 by Governor Jennifer Granholm. Since then, volunteers have put in tens of thousands of hours to make this program a success. Their efforts have produced exciting events and projects aimed at improving and celebrating our great historic community.
Blissfield in a Nutshell
Downtown Blissfield is chock-full of historical buildings conveying traditional commercial architecture. Most retail locations are situated along Lane Street from US-223 south to Union Street. Our downtown businesses include numerous antique stores, along with gift and home interior retail businesses. One is sure to find the perfect, one of a kind, item they have been searching for while shopping our downtown shops. These businesses, in combination with the quaint historic charm of the downtown district, provide an excellent day-trip destination for residents of the nearby urban communities of Ann Arbor, Detroit and Toledo. The Main Street area is also home to a handful of popular eateries, as well as many professional and service businesses.
The downtown community is also enhanced by a very active promotional calendar, including: Excursion Trains, Car Show and Cruise-In events, Retail and Art events, the River Raisin Festival, and various holiday activities which serve to both celebrate Blissfield’s rich history and to inject an air of contemporary flair, fun and excitement into the downtown district.
